Food Glorious Food

£5.99

Everyone has a food story, be it baking with parents or grandparents, a birthday meal, or a new taste sensation on holiday. Such stories have strong links and associations with family and friends, as the warmth and happiness provided by both food and the people we love, are interwoven to form the foundation of our lives. They are powerful stories - and memories - which begin at a young age. This is what we wanted to capture from our young writers at Salway Ash School.

Food is directly linked to our memory banks. The everyday meals we make and the celebratory feasts we share represent family, heritage, generosity, and love. A bag of vinegary chips eaten on a windy beach, a green iced birthday cake in the shape of a fearsome dinosaur, or a helping of the annual plump roast turkey can transport us back to our childhood as we recreate them with our own families. There is often a story behind the food we eat if only we take the time to stop and think about it.
