Is it Science?

£9.99

“Why?”

We love that question! Curiosity ought to be at the heart of every good science lesson and every good scientist should always be hunting for answers, regardless of their age. Our brief for these Year 9 authors was to write an analogous story that was as scientifically accurate as it was exciting. Our guidelines for the finished stories were that they should explain, entertain and engage the reader. If that meant them asking “why?” again, then so much the better.

With this project we wanted the older science students to use their tales to expain, their myths to de-mystifiy and their stories to help younger pupils understand the underlying forces and concepts of the universe, and, hopefully, engender a love of science and a spirit of inquiry that will stay with them throughout their lives.

This is true ‘science fiction’ and it has resulted in the extraordinary book you are holding in your hands - an electrifying collection of tales written by an extraordinary group of young people. It is certainly unlike any science textbook you’ll ever read; indeed, it’s probably unlike anything you’ll ever read.
