Wadham Writers Face Pupil Panel

For several weeks now, a group of students at Wadham School have been writing original short stories, each one founded on the central theme that all may not be as it seems…  As these stories are speedily approaching completion, it has been helpful for the authors to receive feedback on what they have written so far. So, this Thursday, we invited a panel of Year 5s and 6s from Ashlands Primary School to listen and respond to their work.

Students had the opportunity to read out their writing to the panel, who were eager to provide honest opinions and advice. This feedback will be crucial to the editing process as students move on to reforming their first drafts into even stronger second ones.

There was a striking variety to the work that the Year 5 and 6 pupils responded to. The stories differed greatly in genre, tone, and perspective, which is a testament to the extent of the creativity of the Wadham students.

None of this would have been possible without the brilliant engagement of the pupils and Staff at Ashlands, so a huge thanks goes out to Mrs Radford and her team, as well as all the pupils that gave up their morning (and their opinions) so willingly.

Thanks also goes to the volunteer Mentors who were on hand to help Marshall, support and organise the students and the session. It was a great morning.
