Looking for a new Leader: Speechwriting At Salway Ash

On Thursday, we visited Salway Ash Primary School to work on running some political campaigns with the Year 4s. What began as a simple workshop on persuasive language quickly spiralled into a full-blown Narnian election campaign.

Following an emergency phone call from Mr Tumnus we discovered that Aslan had gone missing! Narnia needed a new leader — fast.

This amazing bunch of young writers leapt into action, and the morning became a crash course in campaign speechwriting. We talked, we cajoled, we persuaded, we even created our own campaign badges, all to get our favourite animal elected as the new leader of Narnia.

It was a magical, and thoroughly heartwarming day, supported brilliantly by our team of amazing speechwriting mentors - Sara, Michelle and Amber. The children were amazing and their speeches were fierce and impassioned.

Don’t worry, they’ll have Narnia running smoothly again in no time.
