BANKFEST ‘25 - the creative Career’s Fair

BANKFEST returned for its second triumphant year last month. Over three high-energy days, Dorset’s young people met older people (mostly) who make a living with their words: comedy writers, novelists, journalists, game writers, poets, lyricists and so many  more.

Hosted this year by the Weymouth Pavilion and free to schools, BANKFEST ’25 was three days of awesome, as writing professionals from all fields of creative writing talked about their craft in front of an audience of students from Sir John Colfox, Beaminster School and Budmouth Academy. Each talk featured a Q&A with the audience and some very special questions asked by one of our young guest interviewers.

These talks were followed up by amazing workshops run by the professionals themselves.  The whole event was built to boost confidence as much as craft and to show students that there are a myriad of ways to make a job out of using words.

Keep your eyes peeled for film footage of the event. And in the meantime, watch last year’s highlights HERE.

Huge thanks to all the industry professionals who gave up their time, as well as to the army of volunteers who helped support, marshal and encourage the young people attending - Valerie, Oriane, Lu, Raja, Alex, Lesley, Sandy and Carolyn – you are amazing people, thank you!
