Wadham School; creating Scandals, Rumours and Lies

We all love a good scandal, and this week we launched a whole book-full of them.

We had a fantastic launch event at Crewkerne Library last night, for our latest story anthology publication - “Scandals, Rumours and Lies”. This collection of strange fiction, dark imaginings and cautionary tales is overflowing with tales of betrayal and back-stabbing, surprise twists and unexpected conclusions. The launch is the culmination of a 10-week fiction writing project undertaken by a very talented group of Year 9 pupils from Wadham School in Somerset.

The evening was a great success and featured author signings, readings from some of the participants, as well as the usual speeches, and was a fitting tribute to the students’ hard work.

Huge thanks to Ms Hartley, Mrs George and all the staff at Wadham that supported the event and to all the family and friends that turned out to celebrate these young author’s achievement. Thanks also to our brilliant team of Marvellous Mentors who gave up their time to support the writers; Vicky, Lizzie, Ambs, Valerie, Sandy, Raja, Graham, Rachel and Jackie - we couldn’t have done it without you. Our cover illustration was by the very brilliant Yuzhen Cai - you can check out their work HERE.

Thank you, also, to the staff at Crewkerne Library for hosting the event. It is a wonderful space. Libraries have always been the petri dishes for ideas and it was great for these young writers to have their work on the same shelves as so many literary figures.

Grab your copy HERE before they’re all gone.
