Badger Class campaign to elect ‘cloud tea’ pickers

Wednesday saw us working with some politicians in the making. The Year 4s at Salway Ash Primary School were reading ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’ by Elspeth Graham and Mal Peet but the monkeys had disappeared. Who would now help Tashi pick the Cloud Tea from the tops of the trees? The class wrote impassioned speeches championing their own animal, but also calling for co-operation and even an end to the terrible working conditions for the human tea pickers.

The children blew us away with their confidence and inventive ideas. The speeches were increadible and the young people have clearly all got bright futures as orators and public speakers. We were ably assisted by our wonderful volunteer writing mentors, Clive, Ash and Jackie, who gave up their time to help run the campaigns for these amazing children. Well done everyone!
